New Cancun Wax Museum Opens
Another great addition to add to your things to do list while visiting Cancun…a wax museum.
January 20 marks the official opening of the city’s new wax museum. Located at La Isla Plaza in the Cancun Hotel Zone, the city’s first ever wax museum has 23 rooms that display more than 100 characters from movies to sports figures to music.
Allan Bertold, the museum’s general director, says that the new museum features over 100 different beloved characters that include child figures and superheros and as well as pirate ships to horror and the old west.
Celebrities that have been included for exhibition are Francisco Villa, Albert Einstein, Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Carlos Slim, Steve Jobs, Pope Francisco, US President Obama, the Queen and princes of England as well as the Beatles, among others.
There are sports figures such as Lionel Messi, Diego Armando Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo and a special tribute site for the Brazilian idol Ayrton Senna, complete with a replica of his Formula 1 car and sponsors.
Film stars that visitors can admire include Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bruce Willis, George Clooney, the Joker, Robert Downey Jr., Robin Williams, Robert Pattinson and Mr. Bean, among others.
The 700 square meter museum has been set inside the popular La Isla Plaza which has shown to be a favorite place with both foreign and domestic visitors.
