Quintana Roo Receives More Than 15 Million Visitors
Government officials have released figures that show the state of Quintana Roo received approximately 15 million visitors last year. Overall, Mexico recorded 32 million international visitors to the country with Quintana Roo being the destination choice for about 40 percent of those travellers.
State Governor Carlos Joaquin Gonzalez announced those figures include all people who arrived by air and land as well as cruise ships via Cozumel.
Nearly 640,000 people also entered the state from Belize. Tourism is one of the most important economical drives for the country, something that is especially true for the state of Quintana Roo where millions arrive each year to enjoy the sun, sand and luxury accommodations.
